Introduction |
March 8, 2005 |
The AOS Judging Centers, located throughout the United S tates
of America and Canada, are composed of approximately 500 Emeritus, Accredited,
Probationary and Student judges that evaluate exhibited orchids, assigning many
different types of awards to both species and hybrids. Awards that
are granted must follow the strict guidelines as outlined in the Society's
Handbook on Judging and Exhibition. At the Dallas Judging Center - AOS, there are 13 accredited judges, 1
emeritus judge, 1 probationary judge and 8 student judges. Two additional
nominees are awaiting AOS Trustee approval and will be classified as
student judges. Four invaluable volunteers also assist in the judging
process.
The judging sessions often include a discussion on predetermined
topics related to orchid flower judging, which is beneficial to all who
attend, judges, volunteers and guests. |
Dallas Judging Center was granted probationary status by the
AOS in October, 1986, as the
Southwest
Regional Supplemental Center -- Dallas and held its
first meeting in March, 1987. We met the
criteria and were recognized as a supplemental center in good
standing in 1988. It was changed to the Dallas
Judging Center and given full center status in 1995
when the AOS reorganized it's judging areas.
